My hair affair

My hair has always been complemented on for it’s length, it’s thickness, and it’s beauty. Most people attribute my hair to a mixture of my genes—actually, the question that I am asked the most by people is : What are you “mixed” with?  Well, sometimes I wish I could say that I am all black, but I am not. I am mixed with a Cuban and African-American. You can throw some German into the mix, too. That’s what I am told by my other family members. LOL  The real reason why I started this blog is to help other people maintain their mane and get the healthy hair that they really want—whether using a relaxer or embracing the locs that GOD gave you.  I’ve been split between both ends of the ‘black hair’ saga and have experienced 19 months of living as a “natural head” with no perm to now semi-natural(I’ll tell you all about that later)Remember, your hair is your glory.

  1. I love wearing my hair natural, but it takes 7 hours just to get it manageable. I wore weaves and extensions for years, but it badly thinned my hair on the sides. I wanted to grow my hair back and stop damaging my hair with relaxers and other chemicals. About 2 years ago I discovered full lace wigs and I won’t ever go back to weave! Celebrities have been wearing lace wigs for years, we just never knew it. I’ve been wearing them for these past 2 years and my hair has grown back and is more healthy than it has ever been. Wearing your hair natural is awesome, but if your hair is damaged and you want to rejuvenate and re-grow it, check out full lace wigs at http://www.myhair24-7.com, that’s what I did and I love having my healthy head of hair back! At least I now have the option of wearing my hair natural or if I’m on the run, 20 minutes and I’m ready to go. My lace wig is worth every penny I spent on it.

  2. I can’t speak for everyone else but I, Ebonye Delaney, love wearing the natural look. It shouldn’t matter whether your hair is pressed out or kinky up, on your job if you get your work done and know what you’re doing it shouldn’t matter how your hair looks. Now lets not go all out! You can’t walk into your job with blue weave and think people are going to take you seriously because that’s just not going to fly. However, like my aunt always says “If whites, hispanics, and asians can sport their natural looks, well then why can’t it I.” Everyone job I have every had always states that, as long as my hair is nice, neat, and looks presentable I can wear it. So what’s the problem now? Is my kinky hair not presentable now? I comb it, I keep it neat, and keep it clean. Is it not acceptable? Once we as a culture, we as a nation, get pasted this notion of what is and is not acceptable and respect each others differences and believes then we can start focusing on what’s important; and trust me its not my hair.
